OBELISQUE

In the center of the royal square stands the 33-meter high Obelisk built at the request of Marshal De Mailly, to the glory of King Louis XVI. Made of marble by the architect of the Enlightenment, Charles de Wailly, it is decorated with 4 bronze bas-reliefs representing Independent America, The Raised Navy, Servitude in France abolished and the freedom of trade. Classified as a historical monument.
